OBJECT OF THE WEEK: Painting of the ‘The Wreck of the Buckland, 1755’
Commanded and owned by a William Bartlett of St Marychurch, the Buckland returned from Newfoundland en route to Torbay in the Winter of 1755. She was wrecked and several men drowned as a result. Their names are listed within the painting which can be seen in our Farmhouse Gallery.
